United Way of Southwestern Indiana marks EITC Day > United Way of Southwestern Indiana is partnering with the Internal Revenue Service to promote National Earned Income Tax Credit Day The Earned Income Tax Credit, or EITC, helps offset Social Security taxes and provides an incentive for work. It is the federal government’s largest benefits program for working families. The credit can make life a little easier for workers struggling to make ends meet in today’s tight economy — up to $5,600, or more, easier. Yet, IRS estimates one in four eligible taxpayers could miss out on this valuable tax credit because they don’t check it out. READ MORE >>>

United Way of Southwestern Indiana kicked off the 16th annual Day of Caring > United Way of Southwestern Indiana kicked off its 2009 Annual Fundraising Campaign today with the 16th annual Day of Caring. Nearly 800 volunteers will be working around the community in a variety of community organizations. Day of Caring is a one-day event where employers allow employees time to volunteer in the community. Volunteers see how their donations are helping people. The event is sponsored by Deaconess Health System, St. Mary’s and Hilliard Lyons.

Anonymous Donor Gives $75,000 Challenge Gift > An anonymous donor has given the largest single gift in United Way of Southwestern Indiana's 86 year history! The large gift is being called the LIVE UNITED Challenge Gift, which will double the impact of donations to United Way.
