The United Way Volunteer Action Center (VAC) matches volunteers with opportunities at nonprofit organizations year-round, as well as coordinating several programs and annual events that celebrate giving back to our community. VAC strives to serve as a resource for willing volunteers, to strengthen nonprofit agencies by aiding in volunteer recruitment and to help make our community a better place for all of us.

United Way compiles a current list of needed items that you can donate to agencies and clients, as well as volunteer openings at local agencies. The column appears each Sunday in the newspaper.
+ Volunteer Opportunities booklet > Our Volunteer Handbook, compiled once annually, lists organizations that have indicated an ongoing need for volunteers. The booklet includes general information about volunteering, agency contact names, the agency's mission and typical volunteer opportunities available. Request a booklet by calling 2-1-1.
+ Participate in Day of Caring or Spring Into Caring >Day of Caring and Spring Into Caring are community-wide events in which United Way connects businesses and volunteers with nonprofit agencies in need of help. In just one day, more than 800 volunteers donate their time and talents to meaningful projects that nonprofits might not otherwise have the resources to accomplish. Day of Caring is held the Friday after Labor Day each year and Spring Into Caring is held the Friday of National Volunteer Week. + Promote Employee Volunteerism > United Way has a network of businesses that maintain successful employee volunteer programs. United Way can connect you with members of the Business Volunteer Network (BVN) to help you set up your own program and share best practices. To learn more, call 2-1-1.
